May 26 WALLACE & HARTMAN BECOME REPEAT WINNERS |
The NASCAR, Dodge Weekly Racing series saw a pair of repeat winners Saturday night as Mike Wallace and Scotty Hartman turned the trick in the Crate Late Models and Pro-ams.
Wallace is hoping that his next feature win won't come as a result of rebuilding the car after a wreck. Wallace and his crew spent most of the later part of the week replacing the front stub on the Mike Collins owned car. They just put the finishing touches on it before leaving for the track. He started by winning his heat race over Todd Morgan. He started the 20 lap on the pole after the top 15 were inverted. Wallace and racing legend Ron Tilley battled for the early lead with Tilley taking the early lead on the back stretch. But lap 2 saw Wallace pass Tilley for the lead and eventual win. Several restarts bunched up the field, but Wallace stayed in front on each one. Bill Leighton Jr. was the last one to have a shot at Wallace but he could'nt get it done and Wallace claimed his 2 nd win of the year. Wallace told me he does'nt like starting on the front row because the only place to go is back. At the checkered flag several cars got together and Jason Hobscheidt got turned around. Ron Tex Jr., Dave Doll Read More. |

May 17 Mike Benedum Clean Sweeps The Competition & Sets New Track Record |
A packed house and overflowing pit area that swelled to the likes of 149 race cars converged on the Tyler County Speedway for the 2 nd leg of the West Virginia State Championship Series, but the story was the “Bristol Bullitt“ Mike Benedum from Bristol, WV as the veteran racer won everything but the children's box car race at intermission. Race fans witnessed one of the most dominating performances in the history of Tyler County Speedway as Benedum would start the evening off by setting a new track record of 12.36 seconds on the ultra smooth lightning quick racing surface then proceeded to take the Ritchie Concrete Checkered Flag in both the $2000 to win 2 nd leg of the West Virginia State Championship Series and the $1000 to win Litman Excavating Semi Late Invitational in convincing fashion.
A stout field of 29 high powered Midcap Land & Timber late models would wage war for the 2 nd leg of the West Virginia State Championship series as preliminary heat race victories would go to Mike Benedum, Robbie Scott and Chuck Harper. When the green flag dropped for the 35 lap main event it was Shinnston, WV's Robbie Scott who would skyrocket to the Read More |

As Tyler County Speedway celebrated Christmas In July with a Toy Drive and a visit from Santa Claus it was Paul Wilmoth, Gary Midcap Jr., Louie Krushansky, Mick Baker, Ben Black, Ivan Wamsley, John Sinnett, and Caleb Thomas who were all feeling festive by virtue of their first place feature finishes on Saturday Night. Race fans were welcomed back to the areas most exciting ¼ mile bullring after a week off and were greeted to a pit full of race cars and a night filled with awesome 3 wide racing action.
Clarksburg, WV's Paul Wilmoth aboard the Gary Midcap owned Rocket Chassis would pass race long leader Mike Benedum on the last lap to notch his 2 nd late model victory of the season as the Tyler County Speedway. A very hard fought late model feature would keep race fans on the edge of their seats throughout the 25 lap contest. Front row starters Benedum and Wilmoth would lead the stout 16 car field to the green with Wilmoth getting the jump on the high side and would engage into a side by side battle with Benedum until lap 3 when Benedum would vault to the front Read More |
